post An Epic Adventure

August 22nd, 2008

Filed under: Cycling, Story — Joe @ 11:46 am

Not that this is really very interesting, but this Thursday me and my good friend Steve set off on our bikes ready to perform and epic adventure. This adventure would have us exploring up and down the country and at one point who take us to the outskirts of… DOG VILLAGE!! The plan was to meet the now legendary cyclist Matthew Whittle as he attempted the cycle down from Bristol. And that we did. After taking a photo at DOG VILLAGE we cycled on to Taunton, which by the way is a pretty ridiculously lovely place. OOO OO Story here. What do you think greeted our ears as we headed down the hill into Taunton? “Call 999, Please Call 999….” yes that is what we heard, and where was it coming from I here you ask? A bus. We was like all :O OMGz! So I chased it, it was totally like Speed (Speed 1 obviously). And the rest is history, needless to say I rescued all the passengers, and having almost too much excitement for one day they then proceeded to enjoy the rest of the day unwrapping tiny cakes from little plastic wrappers.

Later, Cassie, the Wonder Dog, escaped from the house, so on the way back from Taunton I headed to Chudleigh, where Cassie had found herself and walked here back through the night.

95 Miles and The end!

WOMAD (World of Music and Dance www.womad.org) was rather amazing it has to be said. I met my good good friend Matthew Whittle after a speedy train ride to Bristol and we took the 75 mile round trip cycle up to WOMAD.

Matt Whittle, from Suit Yourself Magazine (a great little Free Mag in Bristol as seen on this blog) Swindled us a set of press tickets, so we had a rave going backstage with all the artists, the celebrities and using the same toilets as them! Needless to say, it was amazing. Some really interesting music and some classic performers.. a good time was had by all

Here’s a picture to show you just how amazing it was!

Note: Joe will try and write something more interesting at some point, not that anyone is actually ever going to read this…

Down a couple of flights of stairs just off Union Square and we were transported into another, dark world. The audience stood inside a painted circle on the floor. Lights flashing, lighting up the smoke that was bursting out from various orifices of the building. The music was loud and pounding. Then the show started, the audience was pushed back, separated into 2 groups, an alley way forming in the middle. A massive conveyer belt on wheels was pushed through the alleyway, a man running on it, wind and water blowing against him. Suddenly a wall of boxes flew at him and he burst through them paper flying everywhere, the lights off, strobes on and a huge sheet of tin foil-like plastic encircled the group, girls running around it 30 foot up. Later the ceiling started to move down towards the audience, a see through ceiling. Rain poured down from the ceil and then more girls started sliding around, one foot from the collective audiences head. They pounded on the plastic, which look very ready to break.. they jumped in unison onto the transparent ceiling, and as the shock waves rippled through the material it raised back up to the ceiling.. PLUS LOADS MORE!

It was awesome, check out the video

post Meeting Jester…

Jim started typing to his girlfriend, who is in Taiwan being a model, on AIM. I looked over at the screen and saw the words “ I’m Pregnant Jim”, I looked out the window. “I haven’t seen that sort of rain for a while” Joe sputtered in his half stupefied state “yer thats not the worst of it” Jim was quick to retort. I looked out the window again, I couldn’t see what Jim was talking about, but as I saw the hair on Jims neck begin to prickle I knew something had gone horribly horribly wrong…

Outside the rain poured down, the skies were steadily darkening to a thick grey, and out of them not only did the rain poor but so did..

“Killer flying monkeys with machine guns attached to their backs!” Jim roared, and jump out of his seat as he finished typing. “tell my future son I love him…..”

“I jump out of the bunk bed to the floor landing in a slow crouch, Jim was standing fist raised. “Don’t show them Mercy, and don’t look into their eyes, a mire glace could drive a man mad”.

The darker cloud of killer flying monkeys with machine guns attached to their backs was close to the house now. But looking into Jim eyes I knew we would be ok……
